Running a business tutoring medical students and getting a PhD at the same time is no easy task. Just ask Helen Currie, who runs Perth GamPrep-GAMSAT Preparation Courses for medical students while she studies for her PhD at the University of Western Australia in Perth. Helen found herself spending hours creating medical and science diagrams by hand for student handouts, as well as for her PhD coursework.
"I would draw all the diagrams by hand, or buy them off the internet," said Helen. "Then I'd have to import them into PhotoShop to crop and alter them, and then put them back into PowerPoint®. What a nightmare!"
