Osteoarthritis 1) A Normal joint is comprised of a fluid sac called a joint capsule. With this capsule is a fluid, synovial fluid, that cushions and protects the cartilage surrounding the bone. The synovial fluid is produced in a thin membrane called the synovial tendon. 2) Osteoarthritis is also known as "wear and tear" arthritis. Osteoarthritis can be a result of excessive wear and tear, but it has been postulated that there may be a predisposition to the condition. The cartilage in your joints deteriorates causing your bones to contact directly. This will feel like soreness and stiffness of the joint.
