Newsletter

Newsletters are a form of correspondence for a large group of people, such as customers, employees, or members of an organization. They typically contain articles announcing new developments in the company or organization, as well as educational articles corresponding to the function of the company. There may also be a short directory of contact information.

Newsletter
Typical Uses

A Newsletter is a way to keep everyone involved in a business or organization updated and well aware of upcoming products or other developments. Newsletters can be sent out on a need-to basis or on a more regular schedule, such as weekly, monthly, or yearly, depending on the amount of information you need to spread. They are perfect for sending information to all involved parties at once, which saves time and resources.

Best Practices
  • Identify the purpose. Determine the reason for writing the newsletter. Establish the type of information to be included, based upon the chosen target audience.
  • Heading. On the top of the page should be the name of the company or organization. It should also have the name of the Newsletter, if there is one, as well as the date and issue number of the Newsletter.
  • The Newsletter should have a short note that is written directly to the reader. Depending on the purpose and audience, the address may be formal or casual, but in either case should interest the readers and encourage them to read more.
  • Highlight important news. Include articles or short sections that give news from the company and mention any updates to be aware of. You can also make different columns to list calendar items.
  • Advertisements. Advertisements for your own company or others may be included by inserting them or placing websites at the bottom of the page. Pictures will also add interest.
  • Distribution. Now pass out the newsletters to the target audience. You may choose to send them by email, leave them out where anyone can take one, or send them through the mail.
