Adding Color and Styles
Now that the map has been imported to SmartDraw, you can change the font, fill, and border
color of the markers and outlines on your map.
To select more than one object, hold the Shift key while clicking on each object in turn.
Then, use the tools in the Shape Style and Font groups
of the Home tab.
SmartDraw offers a few things that are not as familiar as Fill, Line, or Font. A
Quick Style can change the fill, border, font, and more in a single click. To apply a
Quick Style, simply select the objects you wish to change, click Quick Styles
in the Shape Style group of the Home tab, and select a style.
Quick Styles differ depending on what theme is selected.
A theme is a set of coordinated colors that affect the entire drawing and overwrite
any applied fill colors. Quick Styles inherit a theme when it is changed, so they change
colors to match the theme but keep the rest of their style. To change themes, simply choose
a new one in the Theme gallery on the Home tab.
You can also apply effects, such as bevel, gloss, shadow, or glow, to any selected shapes.
Simply click Effects on the Home tab and choose from
the menu. Note: any effects, as well as fill and line colors, will be
overwritten if you change themes after applying them.
The result is a much more legible map:
