Adding Shapes, Lines, and Text
You can add standard shapes by clicking the arrow below Shape
in the Tools group of the Home tab, selecting a shape from
the menu, and clicking in the Work Area where you would like to add it.
You can also add lines by clicking Line, right next to Shape,
selecting a line type from the menu, and clicking and dragging the mouse in the Work Area to
draw it.
You can add library symbols using the symbol library in SmartPanel.
Just click on a symbol in the Add Shapes Symbol Galler, then click again in
the Work Area where you would like to add it.
To switch libraries, click the Library Selector, the drop menu
above the gallery, and choose a new library.
To find more libraries, click the Library Selector and
choose Moreā¦. In the More Symbols dialog, you can search using
the search bar or browse using the SmartDraw Symbol Libraries Explorer Tree.
Select a library in the dialog, then click Open Library to open the library
in SmartPanel, or OK to open the library and close the dialog.
You can add text to shapes, lines, or the background. Simply click Add
Text in SmartPanel, then click in the Work Area where you would like
to add it and begin typing.
Text that you add to the background becomes a Background Text Object which you can
treat just like any other object. However, if you delete all of the text from the object and
then deselect the object, the object will be deleted so that the Work Area does not become
crowded with invisible objects.
