Gantt Chart Basics
Like all SmartPanels, the Project (Gantt) chart SmartPanel has its own unique automatic commands. These commands include the ability to set time frames, add or remove tasks and dependencies, view a mind map, or access SmartHelp.
Clicking Start Date from within the Set Time Frame group of SmartPanel launches the Set Start Date dialog where you can enter a date value to begin your projected timeframe.
Likewise, clicking End Date within the Set Time Frame group of SmartPanel launches the Set End Date dialog, where you can enter an ending date value for your projected timeframe.
Once you have established your start and end dates, you can add additional time to your project as necessary: click Add Time in SmartPanel and SmartDraw adds a field of time to accommodate your project.
For instance, while using a Week with Days format, clicking Add Time adds an entire week to your existing project chart.
Timescale
To change your timescale, select the appropriate format from the Format dropdown menu in the Set Time Frame group of the Project SmartPanel.
Properties
You can now set the properties for how your chart appears, within the Gantt Properties dialog. You can set the following properties:
- Which days of the week you'd like as working days
- Clicking the day turns it ON or OFF
- SmartDraw formats the calendar automatically to adjust the task bars and duration of working days
- Which Holidays to include on the chart
- Includes USA, Canada, UK and Australia
- You can Show or Hide columns as desired by checking or deselecting as necessary
