Getting Started
When you start SmartDraw, you'll begin on the Document Browser. On the left
side of the screen is the SmartTemplate List, in the center is the
Preview Area, and on the right is the SmartHelp. In the
SmartTemplate List, click Engineering.
SmartDraw offers SmartTemplates with special settings to facilitate the
creation of the diagram for which each is intended. To create a Mechanical Engineering
Diagram, we will begin with the Blank Engineering Diagram SmartTemplate.
Remember, even though it's blank, this SmartTemplate will make creating the Mechanical
Engineering Diagram fast and easy!
To use a SmartTemplate, simply click on it. It will open into the program screen with all
the settings properly configured. Now you can easily customize text, symbols, and schematics.
The Mechanical Engineering SmartPanel is located to the far left of
your Work Area. Here you will be able to Add Shapes using the symbols in the Library
Gallery, Add Lines, and Add Text.
