Aligning Graphics
With SmartDraw, arranging the elements on the page is a breeze. After you drag them to approximately the right position, the software will help you arrange them perfectly.

Use a command under the Align menu to align selected objects with a chosen target object.

First, select the objects you want to arrange. Do this by clicking on each object in turn (while holding down the Shift key).

The last object you click on will have black selection handles and is called the Target Object. When you use the Align menu or Make Same Size menu located in the Shape Layout group under the Design tab, all the selected objects will be aligned or sized to match the target object.

When you use the Space Evenly menu, the objects at each end of the series stay fixed, and the others are spaced evenly between them. To learn more about the importance of alignment, see Basic Design Principles.

The Center in Work Area button (in the Page Setup group under the Page tab) will center your entire project on the page.

Adding a Border
Once your drawing is complete, simply click on the rectangle tool (for example) and stamp a rectangle to the page. Next, you can stretch the rectangle to the appropriate size using its adjustment handles.

If the rectangle is not transparent, use the Fill menu in the Shape Style group under the Home tab to make it transparent.

If you still want to do some editing, but don't want the border to interfere with your drawing, you can easily move it to another layer. Learn more about working with layers.

To add text simply stamp another rectangle, double-click it, and enter text by typing. The text will be contained inside the rectangle and will move with it.
