How to Create Seating Charts with SmartDraw

Start with a SmartTemplate
To create your own seating chart with SmartDraw you can either modify one of the existing SmartTemplates, which can be found in the Classrooms Template List in the Education category under the Activities tab, or create your own chart from scratch using the Blank Floor Plan SmartTemplate.

The Floorplan SmartPanel
The SmartPanel is located to the far left of your work area. Here you will be able to Add Walls, Build Floorplan using the symbols in the Library Gallery, and Flip Objects.

When you start off using a SmartTemplate for your diagram, the appropriate symbol library loads with the template.

Stamp Desks
You can stamp a shape from the Shape menu to represent a single desk.

Select a square or rectangle shape from the Shape menu located in the Tools group under the Home tab. Click the mouse button on the page to stamp the shape.

You can then position your desk on the page by dragging it with the mouse or by using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
