Barlow sign:
Nurse illiciting a positive Barlow sign. Infant supine, knees to 90 degrees at the hips. With middle finger over greater trochanter of femur and thumb on inside of thigh, hips are adducted with backward pressure.
Ortolani sign:
Nurse illiciting a positive Ortolani sign. Infant supine, knees to 90 degrees at the hips. With middle finger over greater trochanter of femur and thumb on internal side of thigh, hips are abducted with upward pressure.
