The 2008.1 release is a major update to SmartDraw 2008 and is free to SmartDraw 2008 owners. Here's what's new:
Better Charts & Graphs
We've reorganized and improved SmartDraw
2008's most powerful new feature—Express Charts.
The new chart SmartPanel makes it easier than ever for you to create and customize your charts and graphs. To get started, copy your data from Excel® and click Paste Data from Clipboard, or click Start A New Chart to start from scratch.
The redesigned SmartPanel gives you faster access to one-click commands for editing and stylizing your chart.
Want to create an ImageChart like those in newspapers and magazines? Just select Fill With Images under Chart Style. Choose an image from the included clip art library, or import one of your own—even a photo from your digital camera.
More Maps—from Boston to Beijing and beyond
SmartDraw 2008's Live Maps feature
captures live data from Google Maps, allowing you to incorporate roads, regions, counties,
zip codes, countries, and even satellite images into your illustrations—all as
separate, editable elements.
This new release extends detailed Live Map functionality even farther to include Canada, Australia, Europe, China, Japan, and more. SmartDraw now gives you more than 35,000 mappable objects for regions worldwide!
Network Installation Support
Great news for the IT department: Complete network installation support makes it easier
than ever to deploy SmartDraw to work groups or entire organizations. Custom MSI Support
for Group Policy and SMS deployment now gives you total control. For more info, check out

Update to Version 8.16 for Free
If you own an older version of SmartDraw 2007, you can update it to version 8.16 below for free. Just click below to save the update file to your computer. After the file is saved, locate it on your computer and run it. It will find your current program and allow you to update it to the most recent version of SmartDraw 2007.
This will not work for the trial edition.
SmartDraw 7 Users
Update to Version 7.63 for Free
If you own an older version of SmartDraw 7, you can update it to version 7.63 below for free. Just click below to save the update file to your computer. After the file is saved, locate it on your computer and run it. It will find your current program and allow you to update it to the most recent version of SmartDraw 7.
