Finding and Using Electrical Symbols and Graphics
SmartDraw comes with thousands of specialized symbols for electrical and mechanical engineering, from schematic symbols for electronics and HVAC, to factory and manufacturing equipment.
You can quickly access some of the more commonly used symbols by clicking on the Add Shapes Library Selector of SmartPanel.
There's a default library that opens with each template, but you can quickly change it to another electrical symbol library by clicking on the library selector and choosing a different library or by clicking More... to search SmartDraw's entire collection.
If you've chosen to explore additional libraries by clicking on More, a More Symbols dialog will let you browse through the symbols just as if they were folders on your computer.
Clicking on a library will display a preview of it showing you the symbols that library contains.
You can also search for a specific symbol by typing in a keyword in the search box at the top of the tree.
Your search results will be displayed in a separate folder called earch Results near the top of the tree.
To open a library in SmartPanel, select it and then click on the Open Library button.
Once you've opened all the libraries you think you need, click on Close to go back to your work area.
As before, you can toggle between all your open libraries by clicking on the library selector and choosing the appropriate library from the menu.
Adding a Shape to Your Page
To add a shape to the page, just select it in the gallery preview and click again anywhere in your work area. This action is called stamping. You can also use drag and drop to add a symbol to your diagram.
