In the Work Area, the starting point, "Start," will already be in place. This process begins as the customer places an order. To re-label it, click the "Start" box and begin typing—let's label this start point "Customer places software order."
Now that we've got our starting point, let's add an additional process—collecting the customer's billing information. Left-click to select the rectangular Process label symbol from the Symbol Gallery in SmartPanel, then click Add Right just below the gallery; SmartDraw will add the new process, evenly spaced and perfectly aligned. As the newly-added box is already selected (evidenced by the selection handles in the corners), begin typing to label the box; we'll label this process "Collect name, credit card, and address."
Since we intend to add a decision step (validating the credit card) to the flowchart, left-click to select the "Decision" diamond shape from the SmartPanel library and click the Add Right command to add it. For even faster flowchart creation, and to continue moving the flowchart at a consistent rightward direction, double-click the diamond icon from within the SmartPanel and it will be automatically added. While the diamond is still selected, type out the new label, "Credit card valid?"
