Add a New Symbol to a Library
To add a symbol to your library, drag the symbol from your page onto the library window until you see the add library cursor, then release the mouse.
Before your symbol is added to the library, you have the opportunity to give it a name, adjust the connection points, define how it will be able to grow or shrink, and specify where you will be able to add text.
Be sure to uncheck Automatic Settings (if it is checked), and set the Preferred Size to Scale to Ruler Settings.
Next, enter the real dimensions of your object in inches or feet depending on your scale. This will allow your symbol to scale itself properly when it is used in a drawing.
Edit the symbol's properties in the Edit Symbol window
The new symbol will appear as a button in your library window. You can edit its properties any time by choosing Edit Symbol from the right-click menu, or you can delete it from the library by choosing Remove Symbol from the right-click Libraries menu.
From the same menu, you can also undock your library to make it into a floating window.
