Browse through these presentation-quality examples of flowcharts all created with SmartDraw.
Opening a SmartTemplate
The easiest way to draw a new flowchart is by starting with a SmartTemplate.
Even a SmartTemplate that looks blank has special settings that open needed libraries and provide an appropriate drawing environment for your chosen drawing type.

You can find SmartTemplates on SmartDraw's Home Screen that opens every time you start SmartDraw. If it's not already selected, click on the Flowchart category and select one of the blank SmartTemplates.
To choose a template, just click on it once and it will open in your work area.
Let the SmartPanel be Your Guide
If you started with a blank Flowchart SmartTemplate, you should see the Flowchart SmartPanel
to the left of your work area.
The SmartPanel will walk you through the basics steps of creating a flowchart. You can Add Shapes, Add Text, and Connect Shapes.
If you ever get stuck, you can reference SmartHelp. Just click on the SmartHelp button at the bottom of the SmartPanel and it will open to the right of your work area.
Adding a Shape
SmartDraw's blank flowchart template is actually not blank, but has a starting shape
already on the page. Select the starting shape and click on any of the
Add buttons below the Flowchart symbol gallery.
By default, this will add a new process shape to your diagram.
You can change the type of shape you add by selecting a different symbol from the gallery.
If you deleted your starting symbol, don't worry. Select a new starting symbol from the gallery and click anywhere in your work area to stamp it on the page or just click any of the add buttons.
