Spacing Automatic Lines
Automatic lines that connect your shapes behave differently than the ones you draw by hand to connect shapes. If you want to change the spacing between shapes connected automatically, click on the line you want to stretch. Near the arrowhead, you should see a diamond shape. You can increase or decrease spacing by clicking and dragging this control.

If you try to move the shape, the shape will be disconnected from your chart.

You can always reattach it by moving it near the spot it used to be.

If you see the a dashed outline appear where your shape used to, you can let go and it will snap back into place.

Adding Arrowheads
To signify the direction of flow, if you're using a flowchart SmartTemplate, your lines will automatically have arrowheads.

If you want to change the direction of the arrowheads or if you want to remove them, click on Arrowheads in the Home Tab.

SmartDraw will automatically remember your setting and apply it to any future lines in your drawing! (Unless you change the setting again)
