Begin by choosing a theme from the gallery in the Home tab. Themes coordinate the colors of the entire drawing and overwrite any previous coloration. This is why you should choose a theme first.
Change the Background using the Backgroundbutton on the Page tab. You can use a fill color, a gradient, a texture, or even an image.

Use the Quick Styles on the Home tab to apply color-coordinated fill, border style, effects, and more to shapes on the Work Area. The Quick Styles available are determined by the selected theme. When you change themes any object assigned a Quick Style will change to reflect the new theme's Quick Style set. To assign a Quick Style select one or more objects and select a Quick Style from the menu that opens from the Quick Style control. Note: Use Shift+Click to select multiple objects with the mouse.
You can also use the Fill, Line, and Effects button in the Shape Style group of the Hom tab to make changes to the selected objects, but note that these changes will be overwritten if you change themes.
Change the font using the Font group in the Home tab. You can change the font type, font size, and color of the highlighted text, and make it bold, italicized, underlined, superscript or subscript. You can also add text symbols.
