Inferior vena cava brings blood from the legs and the lower part of the body
Superior vena cava brings blood from the head, neck, and arms
Blood from the body is carried into the heart’s right atrium by blood vessels called the vena cava.
The atrioventricular valves open. the atria contract, and blood flows into your ventricles.
When the ventricles are full, the atrioventricular valves close creating the first heart sound, "Lubb"
The semilunar valves open, your ventricles contract, and blood is pumped to your body and lungs
Blood returns from the lungs
From the left ventricle, blood is pumped out the aorta
Blood is pumped out to the body
Blood is pumped to the lungs
From the Right ventricle, blood is pumped out the pulmonary arteries
to lung
In the lungs, blood picks up oxygen, and then returns to the heart’s left atrium through blood vessels called the pulmonary veins.
