Close Deals and Plan Projects Easier

Create accurate, professional proposals using scaled plans and your own product catalog. SmartDraw can help you design security systems, healthcare monitoring, irrigation plans, retail layouts, and more. Generate data-driven manifests and hand off the project to engineers with a detailed technical plan layered on top of your proposal.

Plan projects with confidence:

  • Faster quoting with visual layouts
  • Automatic counts and manifests
  • Seamless hand-off from proposal to implementation

Import an Existing Floor Plan at Scale

While SmartDraw makes creating floor plans easy, you don't have to draw your floor plan from scratch. If you have access to an existing floor plan as a PDF or image, you can import it into SmartDraw and scale it to serve as the foundation for a new plan or design.

Create Custom Libraries With Your Product Catalog

SmartDraw has a vast collection of symbols, but you can truly customize your plan using your own product catalog. In a few steps, you can:

  • Import your product images
  • Scale images
  • Add shape data
  • Create a custom library anyone on your team can use to create a new design

With SmartDraw, you can be confident that every proposal will use approved products, correct dimensions, and consistent data.

Add Custom Data

Turn visual designs into data-driven proposals by attaching structured information to every symbol. You can assign data to any shape in SmartDraw including any custom shapes you created. Each shape can have a set of fields and associated values. You can import a spreadsheet of values and assign a row to a shape or you can define a schema manually and add your product names, descriptions, SKUs, and anything else you need.

Generate a Manifest

If you added data to your shapes, SmartDraw can give you a count of all the symbols placed on a plan. For example, you can get a list of all routers, all cameras, all sprinklers, all chairs, depending on what you're designing. You can choose which items and what data to include in your manifest by clicking on the check-boxes on the list presented.

This gives you an instant bill of materials you can use for estimates, purchasing, or hand-off to engineering.

Add Complexity With Layers

Once your proposal is accepted, you can hand off your plan to a technical team to layer on wiring or other details needed for implementation. SmartDraw will take you from proposal to implementation without creating a second drawing.

Using layers, you can hide the information when you don't need to see it.

You can also edit parts of your plan independently from the main design. You won't accidentally click or modify parts of the diagram you don't need to.

Measure Distances

SmartDraw's visual guides and built-in measurement tools give you the clarity and precision you need to design like a pro. As you drag fixtures to your plan, SmartDraw's automatic blue guides will show you the distance to the nearest wall or object. For example, you can place a camera, directly 3 meters from a wall.

Once placed, you can still measure the distances between objects using built-in measuring tools and extension lines.

Export to PDF

SmartDraw makes collaboration easy. Share your plan with anyone, even if they don't own a copy of SmartDraw, with a link. Your team or clients can even join you in making edits in real time.

Once you're happy with your proposal, you can easily export it as a PDF or common image formats like PNG or SVG.
