Add Custom Data and Generate a Manifest

SmartDraw lets you attach structured data to any symbol in your drawing, so you can turn any floor plan into a:

  • Data-driven proposal for estimates
  • Living asset map that can help inventory tracking
  • Document for compliance with maintenance and inspection dates
  • Space plan with data for headcounts and occupancy

Add Data to Any Shape

Every shape in SmartDraw can store custom data fields with associated values. You decide what information matters for your project and enter the data needed. Add product names, descriptions, asset IDs, inspection dates, SKUs, cost, vendors, and other notes.

Import a Spreadsheet

If you already track products or equipment in spreadsheets, you don't have to start over. Import your spreadsheet and map rows directly to shapes in your drawing.

A Visual Interface for Your Data

Once entered, data is shown as a tool-tip when you hover over an element in SmartDraw. You can store a lot of information without cluttering up your floor plan and access it easily.

Generate a Manifest

If you added data to your shapes, SmartDraw can give you a count of all the symbols placed on a plan. For example, you can get a list of all routers, all cameras, all sprinklers, all chairs, depending on what you're designing. You can choose which items and what data to include in your manifest by clicking on the check-boxes on the list presented.

This gives you an instant bill of materials you can use for estimates, purchasing, or hand-off to engineering. Alternatively, you can get a list of equipment due for replacement, inspection, or maintenance based on the purchase or last inspection date. Help support OSHA, NFPA, or internal audits with data.
