Enhance Your Diagrams with Data

Add Information, Not Clutter

Need to add more information to your diagram, but don't want to end up with gigantic shapes with huge blocks of text? You don't want to see every bit of information in your diagram at all times. For example, model numbers and manufacturer information are important to a floor plan, but you don't want to clutter your visual with it.

Want to add costs and designate a process owner on a workflow? Shape data will let you add that information to your flowchart shape so it's there when you need it, but it doesn't interfere with the flow of the diagram.

Shape data can enrich your diagram with lots of information and it's viewable as a tooltip. You can hover over a chair and see a description, asset number, manufacturer, model number, serial number, purchase date, and more.

SmartDraw even lets you link to an outside source like Google Sheets for auto-updating the data automatically.

Shape Data

Export the Information

Need to create a report with the information contained in your diagram? SmartDraw lets you generate a manifest using your shape data.

Let's say you have a floor plan for a conference. Using shape data, you can define the sponsorship levels for every booth on the plan. SmartDraw will also let you generate a report that shows the number of gold, silver, and bronze level booths you have in the plan.

Imagine exporting other information grouped by type: the number of chairs of a certain model in your office plan, equipment with specific purchase dates for your network design, and so on.
